Yes, next week will be a good time to visit our otherwise shabby sty!
Spring cleaning helps remove clutter/cobwebs/normally unreachable filth in the physical space. It does just the opposite in our minds I discovered. Everything cleaned had a association to an event, period in time, person, memory etc. What to remove or add into to the showcase was an exercise in aesthetics balanced with family members emotional needs and attachment to things. I have now discovered among other things 3 cameras including a digital one all in good working order and have no idea how to deal with them. Last week I gave away a large Hanuman idol that some christian colleagues of my wife had given her with all good intent. Now, I still have some more idols of gods that we are unable to accomodate in the small nook we have for prayer. How can we spring clean the mind? I wish I knew. I can live comfortably in my home with just the regular cleaning, however, my life would change for much better if I could spring clean the mind and remove all the baggage that failures, hurt, memories miserable etc have created in my mind leaving it clean with all the right stuff like happy memories of successes, love and times of joy. Meditation may come close to a solution?? I dont know yet
matter of the heart
About my heart attack will need another post which I will try after gaining some more blogging experience. Expressing emotions will take a little more practice.
Everyday I read interesting stuff about taking care of the heart. Some of this I can swear by and other things are based on published reports and I have not the perseverance/tenacity to make a habit.
1. Include a cup of green leafy vegetables in your diet everyday. This helps if you are dieting and even otherwise
2. Red wine on regular basis reduces inflammation the main cause of heart trouble
3. Weights are more important than endurance/cardio.....never miss the weights session. Regular exercise is a must
4.10% reduction in weight can make a significant difference to health
5. Medicines can be reduced, cannot be done away with for life, Since everyone of them has side effects including causing diabetes in the medium term, remember it is a trade off and hopefully the right one. Taking tablets is essential but do not get paranoid if you miss a dose once in 3 months
6.It is a rich mans disease and can leave you very poor. Planning finance for regular check ups, medicines, surgery/surgeries is a must. I missed a insurance premium payment by 7 days and the whole thing went kaput. Make sure you have continuous valid insurance for many many years
7. I found meditation, relaxing music/sleep music helps a lot
8.Relax and enjoy life, I am not perfect however I am willing to forgive my mistakes and enjoy my imperfections
9. I do not have a gig to write a list of 10... I could remember 8 things while watching Indian Idol and thumping away and hope this makes some sense to you
